DESIGN / SEMIOTICS & CULTURAL ANALYSIS / FUTURES
Malex Salamanqués has been practising and teaching design for over 20 years. She is a pioneer of applied Design Semiotics frameworks and methodologies. She helps International businesses and brands across a wide range of categories (including household, luxury, skin care, menstrual and health care, food and beverages) to use Design Semiotics to optimise their communications and inform all aspects of creative execution and NPD for products, experiences and services.
More recently she has worked with disruptive Latam businesses to conceptualise and develop meaningful brands and services that are changing and challenging the landscape in their categories including hospitality, food retail and health care.
She is exploring ways in which Critical and Speculative Design Practices can help us to imagine alternative visions and narratives of endemic futures for Latin América.
Outside work, Malex brings up her two children and explores her passion for popular visual and material culture – which spans artefacts, books, ex-votos and vernacular graphics
